Deutsche Film AG – in short: DEFA – would be on the 17th. May turned 80 years old. The anniversary is also celebrated in Leipzig, with special programs on an extended weekend (14.–17. May), among others in the Schaubühne, in the Luru cinema, in the cinema bar and in the Cineplex. Particularly exciting about the individual program series: The focus is not on the well-known DEFA classics, but films that are rarely seen on the big screen.

THE VILLETTE
GDR 1990, Dok, R: Gerd Kroske, 55 min
At the beginning of 1990, around 200 GDR artists travel to Paris to create a large exhibition in the Grande Halle de La Villette—only a few weeks after the fall of the Berlin Wall, in January 1990, a CLASS meeting of the GDR subculture took place in Paris for three days. The film tells of this unique skekcakel.
